Vercel Flat Rate CDN: predictable Pro billing for traffic spikes

On September 8, 2026, Jas Garcha and Eric Dodds announced Flat Rate CDN for Vercel Pro teams: a fixed monthly CDN bill with spike protection instead of pure usage-based CDN charges. New Pro teams get Flat Rate CDN by default; existing Pro teams can opt in. Usage is tracked at the team level across all projects.

One fixed monthly fee covers CDN Requests, Fast Data Transfer, Blob Data Transfer, and Observability events from CDN requests. Example tiers in the post include Flat Rate CDN 1M (included with Pro: 1M requests / 1 TB), 10M ($20), 50M ($100), and 150M ($300). The post says temporary spikes do not raise the bill, and that Vercel rightsizes the tier from sustained usage rather than capping or degrading the site when traffic goes viral. Teams can still opt out to pay-as-you-go CDN.
